We explored the racial/ethnic makeup of dermatology leadership in Canada, with the goal to drive further discussion and action to improve equity, diversity and inclusion in our current community and for the future generation of our field.

An impactful weekend spent with colleagues across the country, at the spring Dermatology Update 2025 meeting, in our hometown!

Over the past several days, Dr. Li:

🔗 Co-Chaired a session on epigenetics in skin aging
🔗 Moderated a session exploring the importance of regular anti-dandruff shampoo use on effective long term maintenance of scalp health
🔗 Moderated a session reviewing new scientific data on sebum control with the use of a topical anti-androgen acne medication
🔗 Co-chaired an advisory board meeting on an innovative skincare formulation, coming soon this year to Canada

One of the largest forum celebrating advances of the skin, global community and friendship, mentorship and growth, and the synergy of dermatology and industry partnerships.

The highlight of the meeting for Dr. Li was returning to co-chair a scientific session on microneedling, with internationally-renowned faculty and friends who shared rich clinical experiences. Thank you to all and your time was evidently valued by a remarkable audience turnout for a Sunday morning session, beating daylight savings time change!

We look forward to integrating new learnings and insights back home for our patients.

Dr. Li was featured this past weekend in the Vancouver Sun, sharing perspectives on inflammaging - referring to chronic, low-grade inflammation that contributes to the development of age-related diseases and organ (skin included!) damage as we get older.

Inflammaging on the skin may appear as premature signs of aging such as fine lines, dull skin tone, and uneven colour. Excess redness, flaking and dryness may also develop.
